I always considered myself to be quite active.  I played rugby right up until I graduated from university and continued to use the gym on the odd occasion.  However I became involved with my own business, and after a few years of marriage I spent less and less time training. 

Three years ago I looked at a photo of myself, and was horrified with what I could see!  I hadn’t realised the amount of weight I had gained.  It was at that point, and the fact my brother-in-laws wedding was coming up, that I decided to lose weight.

A few weeks after joining Fitness First I decided to take on a Personal Trainer, my intention was to gain a guide for a period of 10 sessions and then continue on my own.  I used 3 Personal Trainers on an on/off basis and lost a small amount of weight.  About 18 months ago, and after the Christmas break, I decided to start training with David.

As soon as I began training with David I realised that his attitude and approach was much more professional than the others I had used.  I found him a lot more knowledgeable, a better motivator, and more approachable.

The other PT’s had particular expertise to training; some good for body building, others more for general fitness.  With David I found his training expertise was much broader.  Not only has he given me improved fitness, but I have recently completed a 13.5k Fun Run.  My next goal is to increase size but further reduce body fat .I am now more focused on body building.

As you can see, I have lost 31 kg’s in the space of 18 months and 17% reduction in body fat.  Before I started with David, I used to visit the gym regularly about 3 times per week without seeing any real results.

David set me 5-6 weekly programs, which varied depending on my goals.  At the start he took all my weight, measurements and body fat and repeated this every 5-6 weeks.  This kept me focused and gave me encouragement because I could see immediate results. 

David also weighed and measured my waist me every week, which really made me focus on my diet and train even harder.  He gave me weekly food dairies to fill, and this helped to me realise what I was actually eating.  My food intake changed from bad carbs and excessive fat to one that contained good carbs and protein.  David actually explained and educated me on what to eat, and what foods complemented the various training.  However, I did have the occasional blow-out, and David allowed for this as “cheat meals".

David's personal training sessions have kept me focused and determined.  He has pushed me to my limit, and monitored my development.  Without David there is no way I would have achieved my goals.  His expert advice is the best I have received from a Personal Trainer and he has completely changed my outlook on training and diet.

He is definitely the best in this field, and if your looking at making some real improvements, I advice you take sessions with David - its money well spent.  Just look at my results.
