I would like to tell you why fit Camp has changed my way of life in fitness and in health.

I am 50 years old and 7-8 years ago my life changed. In 2002 aged just 43 I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I had been on holiday in Scotland with my husband and found this small lump. It was may 10th, funny how dates stick in your memory. I didnt tell anyone and finally in the June plucked up the courage to go to the doctors. In the July i had a mammogram and biopsys and a week later was told the news. You then get on the hospital conveyor belt of tests and more tests. Then August 24th I had my operation. Having a lumpectomy and 21 lymph nodes removed. The wait for 2 weeks after that was horrendous, but I was very lucky I had grade 2 and no cancer in the nodes so I got away with 15 sessions of radiotherapy.

After that life carried on as normal, regular checks but then I started to put weight on. I joined Weightwatchers and lost a stone and put back 2. Joined Rosemary Connelly, thinking diet and exercise together would help me lose the weight. I became a consultant with Weight care. You name it, i tried it. The Cambridge Diet, but each time went back to my old ways. These diets were ok but not seeing results as fast as i would have liked.

Then in September 2008 I took a look at myself and thought this has got to stop. One of the factors of breast cancer can be obesity. So I joined a low calorie weight loss programme, with just shakes, bars and soups. But what they did offer was a counselling programme, to what causes this addiction to food. In 4 months I lost 4 stone, my starting weight was 15 stone 13lbs and size 20 clothes.
I felt great, sort of got into a rut again unhappy with my marriage and started to put the weight back on. I had never had the support off my husband, his excuse,” I like bigger women”. Then my life took another dramatic change in October 2009 I found out my husband had been unfaithful for the past 3 years. So again I turned to food, this was the main cause of my weight, emotional eating, so I decided to divorce him.

January 2010 I weighed in again at 13 stone 10lbs and size 16. I thought no, not again. You see I had signed up for a challenge; in October of this year i am doing a 10 day trek up the Inca Trail in Peru in aid of breast cancer and I need to lose the weight and get fit.
Where do I start? I was going to a gym but never pushing myself and not losing weight. So I looked on the internet and came across “Fit Camp Uk”.
I thought there was no way i could do that, but looking on their website and there was Dave Hughes and Simon McNeilly who are the Fit Camp Uk Instructors, but also doing personal training. So I emailed Dave, we had a chat and I started to train twice a week with him. Then after a month the weight was dropping off and he suggested I try Fit Camp Uk.

I went and watched a session down opposite the Ladybridge in Tamworth on a Saturday morning and i thought maybe I could do this. So I started the following Saturday.

I had this idea that is was going to be harsh and punishing. No,Dave and Simon train us hard, but always keeping an eye on each individual to make sure we are doing it right and safe. They care about us and make us work as a group, pushing us that little extra further. Their style is different and the way they both work together to encourage us is first class. Their sense of humour makes it pleasure to work out, did I just say a pleasure? I still do my 2 sessions a week with Dave and to date I have lost 2st and 7″ off my waist in 12 weeks. I am also now in a size 12, cannot remember the last time i wore a 12, I think I may have been aged 12.

Fit Camp Uk has given me confidence, getting me fit and giving me a healthier lifestyle through the tough times i am going through at the moment. Their support is 100% and i would like to say thank you. So anybody out there that wants to change their life, get results, tone up, lose weight for a specific goal or improve on self esteem in a fun caring environment then get down to Fit Camp Uk.
